Narrative:
It was the first officer's first leg to fly. He is a new hire with 30 hours in the aircraft having recently attended simulator training. As we taxied out; the first officer occupying the right seat 'briefed' the SID; runway 24; 'climbed runway heading to 1500 ft; turn right to 280 degrees; maintain 1500 ft till 4.5 DME from teb VOR; then climb to 2000 ft.' while waiting in line to depart; I noted to the first officer the potential hazards of ewr arrivals flying ILS approachs to runway 23 above our departure rtes. Upon departure; the first officer climbed via the SID to 1500 ft then continued to 1800 ft before correcting back to his assigned 1500 ft. No conflict with an ewr arrival ahead at 2 miles occurred. A couple of observations. 1) the first officer claimed confusion of the SID's instructions 'determined' to climb to 2000 ft; despite 1500 ft being displayed in the altitude assigned window of the altimeter. 2) failure to listen to my commands to arrest his climb despite repeated calls to 'maintain 1500 ft.' 3) I believe the first officer 'may' have become confused with departure procedures at teb that reference 1500 ft (runways 24; 19) along with 2000 ft (runways 6 and 1).

Title: FALCON DA20 FLT CREW HAS AN ALT DEVATION DURING THE TEB 5 DEP.
Narrative: IT WAS THE FO'S FIRST LEG TO FLY. HE IS A NEW HIRE WITH 30 HRS IN THE ACFT HAVING RECENTLY ATTENDED SIMULATOR TRAINING. AS WE TAXIED OUT; THE FO OCCUPYING THE R SEAT 'BRIEFED' THE SID; RWY 24; 'CLBED RWY HEADING TO 1500 FT; TURN R TO 280 DEGS; MAINTAIN 1500 FT TILL 4.5 DME FROM TEB VOR; THEN CLB TO 2000 FT.' WHILE WAITING IN LINE TO DEPART; I NOTED TO THE FO THE POTENTIAL HAZARDS OF EWR ARRIVALS FLYING ILS APCHS TO RWY 23 ABOVE OUR DEP RTES. UPON DEPARTURE; THE FO CLBED VIA THE SID TO 1500 FT THEN CONTINUED TO 1800 FT BEFORE CORRECTING BACK TO HIS ASSIGNED 1500 FT. NO CONFLICT WITH AN EWR ARRIVAL AHEAD AT 2 MILES OCCURRED. A COUPLE OF OBSERVATIONS. 1) THE FO CLAIMED CONFUSION OF THE SID'S INSTRUCTIONS 'DETERMINED' TO CLB TO 2000 FT; DESPITE 1500 FT BEING DISPLAYED IN THE ALT ASSIGNED WINDOW OF THE ALTIMETER. 2) FAILURE TO LISTEN TO MY COMMANDS TO ARREST HIS CLB DESPITE REPEATED CALLS TO 'MAINTAIN 1500 FT.' 3) I BELIEVE THE FO 'MAY' HAVE BECOME CONFUSED WITH DEPARTURE PROCS AT TEB THAT REFERENCE 1500 FT (RWYS 24; 19) ALONG WITH 2000 FT (RWYS 6 AND 1).
