Narrative:
Just prior to taxiing into position and hold on runway 9L at atl; we realized that we had put runway 8R in the FMS; which gave us an initial waypoint of hrshl. The FMS was corrected and verified with both pilots and with the tower controller. The new waypoint was lidas. But the problem was; somehow the FMS 'exec' buttons was not pushed so the new waypoint of lidas was not activated. So after takeoff at 400 ft; the FMS showed a left turn to a 070 degree heading towards hrshl; not the left turn to lidas as needed. At the same time we discovered the error; so did the tower controller; who issued a turn back to the right and instructed us to go direct to lidas intersection. We made the turn. Tower also pointed out traffic to our left which we said we would maintain visual with. No RA was received from the TCAS and flight continued without a problem.

Title: CRJ FLT CREW PROGRAMS THE FMC WITH THE WRONG RWY-DEP. ATC ADVISES THE FLT CREW OF THE TRACK DEV AND THE FLT CREW CORRECTS THE ERROR.
Narrative: JUST PRIOR TO TAXIING INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 9L AT ATL; WE REALIZED THAT WE HAD PUT RWY 8R IN THE FMS; WHICH GAVE US AN INITIAL WAYPOINT OF HRSHL. THE FMS WAS CORRECTED AND VERIFIED WITH BOTH PLTS AND WITH THE TWR CTLR. THE NEW WAYPOINT WAS LIDAS. BUT THE PROB WAS; SOMEHOW THE FMS 'EXEC' BUTTONS WAS NOT PUSHED SO THE NEW WAYPOINT OF LIDAS WAS NOT ACTIVATED. SO AFTER TKOF AT 400 FT; THE FMS SHOWED A LEFT TURN TO A 070 DEG HDG TOWARDS HRSHL; NOT THE L TURN TO LIDAS AS NEEDED. AT THE SAME TIME WE DISCOVERED THE ERROR; SO DID THE TWR CTLR; WHO ISSUED A TURN BACK TO THE R AND INSTRUCTED US TO GO DIRECT TO LIDAS INTXN. WE MADE THE TURN. TWR ALSO POINTED OUT TFC TO OUR L WHICH WE SAID WE WOULD MAINTAIN VISUAL WITH. NO RA WAS RECEIVED FROM THE TCAS AND FLT CONTINUED WITHOUT A PROB.
