Narrative:
I was flying an experimental aircraft with a beechcraft starship as a photo and safety chase within the R-2515 restr area. The race track designed to accomplish this mission straddles both the airspace held by R-2515 which is controled by sport and los angeles center airspace to the south of R-2515. I was on an IFR flight plan while outside of the R-2515 airspace on a pointout from sport which controls the R-2515 airspace. I am sending this report to clear up any misunderstanding surrounding this flight. Due to the complexity of the mission and the number of entities (commercial and government) involved; we spent quite some effort getting everyone briefed about the test activity and our special requirements. It was not enough. Despite our efforts and the fact that this was the 6TH time we conducted this mission; there was still a communications breakdown. In the future; we will focus additional efforts at getting all the involved parties into 1 room for a detailed; face-to-face mission briefing. We can all be reminded that just because this is the 6TH time; it doesn't mean it's becoming routine. Flight test is serious business.
