Narrative:
Aircraft suffered damage caused by a fire on a gpu cord plugged into the external power receptacle at the time. Due to extensive damage a bill of work was requested from engineering. Not receiving a bill of work by XA00 hours the same day; I generated bill of work requesting work to be accomplished. This was captured on non routine write up serial numbers X; Y; and Z. One of the items discussed with engineering was to accomplish the eddy current inspection of the area in question around the external power receptacle. This item was captured on non routine write-up serial #Z item 2; at the time a bill of work was yet to be established. Finally; bill of work was established 8 hours after the aircraft being removed from service. Quality assurance; not reading the already generated non routine write-up established a new non routine write-up serial #Z accomplish the same work in haste to ferry the product and no clear direction on execution of non routine write-up since all items were not well documented in the bill of work the open non routine write-up were voided in haste. I communicated with maintenance controller. We were advised this was acceptable as all items were documented. All work open work be re-accomplished in maintenance control as well. There was not a safe flight issue as the electrical system was validated.

Title: A B757-200 INCURRED DAMAGE TO THE EXTERNAL PWR RECEPTACLE BY A FIRE CAUSED BY A GND PWR PLUG. SEVERAL REPEATED WRITE-UPS WERE MADE BY 3 DIFFERENT MAINT GROUPS.
Narrative: ACFT SUFFERED DAMAGE CAUSED BY A FIRE ON A GPU CORD PLUGGED INTO THE EXTERNAL PWR RECEPTACLE AT THE TIME. DUE TO EXTENSIVE DAMAGE A BILL OF WORK WAS REQUESTED FROM ENGINEERING. NOT RECEIVING A BILL OF WORK BY XA00 HRS THE SAME DAY; I GENERATED BILL OF WORK REQUESTING WORK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. THIS WAS CAPTURED ON NON ROUTINE WRITE UP SERIAL NUMBERS X; Y; AND Z. ONE OF THE ITEMS DISCUSSED WITH ENGINEERING WAS TO ACCOMPLISH THE EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION OF THE AREA IN QUESTION AROUND THE EXTERNAL PWR RECEPTACLE. THIS ITEM WAS CAPTURED ON NON ROUTINE WRITE-UP SERIAL #Z ITEM 2; AT THE TIME A BILL OF WORK WAS YET TO BE ESTABLISHED. FINALLY; BILL OF WORK WAS ESTABLISHED 8 HRS AFTER THE ACFT BEING REMOVED FROM SVC. I COMMUNICATED WITH MAINT CTLR. WE WERE ADVISED THIS WAS ACCEPTABLE AS ALL ITEMS WERE DOCUMENTED. ALL WORK OPEN WORK BE RE-ACCOMPLISHED IN MAINT CTL AS WELL. THERE WAS NOT A SAFE FLT ISSUE AS THE ELECTRICAL SYS WAS VALIDATED.
