Narrative:
Arrived at jbr at XA00 on may/sun/06 for duty as BE1900 captain. First officer arrived approximately XA15 and we introduced ourselves. We established I had approximately 80 hours in the BE1900 and he had approximately 120 hours. We referred to our company gom; which states; 'in addition; either the PIC or the sic must have at least 150 hours of line operating flight time 121.438.' our company requirement exceeds the far requirement of 75 hours. I called crew scheduling; explained the situation to her. She called the supervisor of crew scheduling. She said we were legal and I asked her if she had a copy of the gom. She said no; she was at home. I read her the pertinent language and she asked the scheduler for my first officer's flight time since date of hire. When it became evident it didn't reach 150 hours; I was put on hold and disconnected. Received a call approximately 20 mins later from the manager of dispatch. He said he had spoken by phone to the director of operations who agreed to waive the 150 hour requirement for the day's flts then return. I thought once the manuals are FAA approved they become regulatory. We continued operations with director of operations approval and no further incident.
