Narrative:
After takeoff EICAS mess left wing slide; got out checklist. Aircraft was pressurizing. Stop climb 10000 ft airspeed 220 KTS. Tried to call dispatch. Too low on frequency. Call flight attendant to check on slide. At time was still ok; did a cabin advisory. Burned fuel so would not be overweight landing. Had fire trucks standing by. Once checklist was complete I took over as pilot flying. Went back to pdx. Appears at 1500 afe slide might have deployed. Landed; taxied off runway; shut down engines. Left flaps out; speed brakes up. Fire crew confirmed slide was deployed. Towed to gate.
