Narrative:
We were in position and holding on runway 35L; dfw. Tower cleared an aircraft to cross runway 35L. Before he entered the runway tower cleared us for takeoff. We said we would wait until the aircraft had crossed and they canceled our takeoff. I was watching the other aircraft and knew he wasn't going to stop short of the runway. He crossed on taxiway el I think. We never started our takeoff roll or released the brakes. I debriefed with the tower supervisor after we landed. It's good to look out the windows!
