Narrative:
In VMC; I was cruising abeam the freeway in which traffic was not an issue. No turbulence was evident. I experienced a loss of power. Cognizant of the 'aviate; navigation; communicate' axiom; I checked the instrument panel; trimmed for the best glide speed; and searched for a field away from homes; freeways; etc. Then; I contacted departure; who assisted me in searching for the best field. Approximately 3000 ft MSL; the operator lost communications who then contacted a twin engine pilot who vectored me to the best field; safely down to the ground. Executing a soft-field approach in what appeared to be a flat; dry; grassy meadow; I landed 'gear down and locked;' safely in that field in a remote area. After shutting down the aircraft in accordance with the checklist; I contacted the owner and proceeded from that point. The aircraft was intact.

EXECUTING A SOFT-FIELD APCH IN WHAT APPEARED TO BE A FLAT; DRY; GRASSY MEADOW; I LANDED 'GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED;' SAFELY IN THAT FIELD IN A REMOTE AREA. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE ACFT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHKLIST; I CONTACTED THE OWNER AND PROCEEDED FROM THAT POINT. THE ACFT WAS INTACT.
