Narrative:
Inbound aircraft was late arriving. New scheduled departure was already 36 mins late. While we were on the jetway waiting for flight attendants and passenger to deplane; customer service representative advised us that it was a minimum standard turn flight and we would need to board quickly. He said that he would preposition passenger on jetway so that they would be ready to board when flight attendants had completed their safety checks. We were finally able to board aircraft; had a quick pilot briefing. As I was stowing my luggage in the overhead above row 7; I see that passenger are boarding. I hurry back to the front of aircraft and try to make them deplane as 3 of 4 flight attendants had not done our safety checks. Agent boarded passenger without any time for us to complete our safety checks. Once we were boarding; there were 2 different families with children in the exit row. Once we succeeded in moving appropriate people to the exit rows; I made my way back to the front of aircraft. The aircraft door has been shut and the jetway is pulled even though there are numerous passenger standing in the aisles and many overhead bins are open. Cabin attendant informs me that she told the customer service representative not to close the door because we were dealing with emergency exit seating issues (and bins were open) but the customer service representative closed the door anyway.
