Narrative:
Went to retract gear but handle would not allow retraction and EICAS message ling gear air-ground fail illuminated. Ran checklist. Notified flight attendant and declared emergency with ATC and notified dispatch. Also contacted maintenance control. Burned off fuel to reduce below maximum landing weight. Landed safely without incident. Crash fire rescue equipment were standing by runway 14L when we landed there.

Title: EMB145 FLT CREW IS UNABLE TO RAISE THE LNDG GEAR AFTER TKOF; DECLARES AN EMER AND RETURNS FOR LNDG.
Narrative: WENT TO RETRACT GEAR BUT HANDLE WOULD NOT ALLOW RETRACTION AND EICAS MESSAGE LING GEAR AIR-GND FAIL ILLUMINATED. RAN CHKLIST. NOTIFIED FLT ATTENDANT AND DECLARED EMER WITH ATC AND NOTIFIED DISPATCH. ALSO CONTACTED MAINT CTL. BURNED OFF FUEL TO REDUCE BELOW MAX LNDG WT. LANDED SAFELY WITHOUT INCIDENT. CFR WERE STANDING BY RWY 14L WHEN WE LANDED THERE.
