Narrative:

After departing dfw on the soldo SID; we were initially assigned a heading of 080 degrees and told to expect an intercept to the SID eastbound. Next clearance was direct soldo. Just passing soldo; center contacted us and told us that we were deviating from the assigned course and reclred to intercept the remainder of the soldo SID. We immediately noticed that the FMS had dropped uim and eld from the legs and the routing was soldo-sqs. We reentered uim and eld and proceeding on the cleared course.supplemental information from acn 699046: there is a software problem that everyone is aware of regarding the FMS dropping out waypoints on departures and arrs. As the PNF; I could have done a better job backing up the captain and checking the waypoints more carefully. We were also slightly distracted with the WX radar and avoiding buildups. Lesson learned: both pilots always verify changes in the FMS and on the map. Also; please fix the software. We also found out after calling the ATC supervisor that this has been a common recurring problem with this type of box and software. ATC has a special form they fill out specifically tailored for this exact situation since it has been so common.
