Narrative:
Shortly after liftoff a tail compartment overheat warning occurred followed by a right air-condition temperature high caution. Emergency and abnormal procedures were accomplished. Emergency was declared and flight returned for landing. Emergency equipment was requested and met the aircraft clear of runway. After emergency personnel determined that no fire or excess heat was observed in the tail of aircraft; aircraft was taxied to gate and passenger deplaned. Maintenance inspected aircraft and determined that a small duct leak to the right pack may have contributed to the overheat condition. The right pack and system was placarded and the plane returned to service. On subsequent takeoff the overheat heat condition repeated during takeoff roll. Takeoff was aborted and aircraft returned to gate.

Title: AN MD80 SHORTLY AFTER LIFTOFF DECLARED EMER DUE TO TAIL COMPARTMENT OVERHEAT WARNING. MAINT FOUND SMALL DUCT LEAK IN R PACK. DEFERRED R PACK PER MEL. ON NEXT TKOF GOT TAIL COMPARTMENT OVERHEAT WARNING AND ABORTED TKOF.
Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER LIFTOFF A TAIL COMPARTMENT OVERHEAT WARNING OCCURRED FOLLOWED BY A R AIR-CONDITION TEMP HIGH CAUTION. EMER AND ABNORMAL PROCS WERE ACCOMPLISHED. EMER WAS DECLARED AND FLT RETURNED FOR LNDG. EMER EQUIP WAS REQUESTED AND MET THE ACFT CLR OF RWY. AFTER EMER PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT NO FIRE OR EXCESS HEAT WAS OBSERVED IN THE TAIL OF ACFT; ACFT WAS TAXIED TO GATE AND PAX DEPLANED. MAINT INSPECTED ACFT AND DETERMINED THAT A SMALL DUCT LEAK TO THE R PACK MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE OVERHEAT CONDITION. THE R PACK AND SYS WAS PLACARDED AND THE PLANE RETURNED TO SVC. ON SUBSEQUENT TKOF THE OVERHEAT HEAT CONDITION REPEATED DURING TKOF ROLL. TKOF WAS ABORTED AND ACFT RETURNED TO GATE.
