Narrative:
ZNY called a pointout to my sector then as I was about to start a track the supervisor asks for where the sigmets were. This prevented the track from being started. I saw the target later as I was giving the relief briefing and started the track. By picking up these printed WX products to ensure controllers have read; initialed; time it is creating a distraction at the sectors. There is a trend. Management is being forced to micro-manage and the controller is getting preoccupied when the controller needs his mind free of all these management initiatives to allow clearheaded processing of altitudes; projected flight paths; etc. My report seems trivial but as a veteran; I see a real and growing danger for the flying public when a controller is worried about filing strips that are not separation related.
