Narrative:
Getting up at XA00; experiencing maintenance problems with aircraft including an inoperative FMS before our first departure; delays arriving san on first leg due to fog had both pilots feeling ready to end the day -- arriving las with a crossing restr over clarr intersection from center put us looking high; so we notified ATC and they asked to just expedite descent -- arriving high over where we should have been. We also missed an initial dogleg turn to the left. Realizing the missed turn I initiated a turn in that direction with ATC then asking us about the arrival -- navigating green needles; numerous VOR frequency changes and feeling tired; just made for a rough morning. Having an FMS would have made a difference. We really depend on the automation; and planning the FMS provides. Flying green needles just makes it feel like needle; ball; and airspeed. Very basic.
