Narrative:
Flight from dfw to lit; FMS was set. Passing nobly; the intermediate waypoints of cobug and ortro were somehow deleted within the FMS while setting in a step down fix. The aircraft passed nobly direct to lit and ATC queried why not heading towards cobug and ortro which were subsequently re-entered.supplemental information from acn 699566: prior to reaching nobly intersection; we put a descent point 35 NM from lit VOR in the FMS. After entering the descent point; we lost cobug and ortro intxns in the FMS.callback conversation with reporter acn 699566 revealed the following information: the captain advised that the reprogramming of the route prior to lit consisted of the insertion of a crossing restriction that; in the flight crew's experience; was predictable. Reporter stated no route discontinuity or other obvious change occurred when doing so. Reporter emphasized that the flight crew had conscientiously reviewed the route; including the transition waypoints; prior to departure.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CARJ FMS DROPS WAYPOINTS BETWEEN NOBLY AND LIT ON RNAV SID FROM DFW.
Narrative: FLT FROM DFW TO LIT; FMS WAS SET. PASSING NOBLY; THE INTERMEDIATE WAYPOINTS OF COBUG AND ORTRO WERE SOMEHOW DELETED WITHIN THE FMS WHILE SETTING IN A STEP DOWN FIX. THE ACFT PASSED NOBLY DIRECT TO LIT AND ATC QUERIED WHY NOT HEADING TOWARDS COBUG AND ORTRO WHICH WERE SUBSEQUENTLY RE-ENTERED.SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 699566: PRIOR TO REACHING NOBLY INTXN; WE PUT A DSCNT POINT 35 NM FROM LIT VOR IN THE FMS. AFTER ENTERING THE DSCNT POINT; WE LOST COBUG AND ORTRO INTXNS IN THE FMS.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR ACN 699566 REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPT ADVISED THAT THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE RTE PRIOR TO LIT CONSISTED OF THE INSERTION OF A XING RESTRICTION THAT; IN THE FLT CREW'S EXPERIENCE; WAS PREDICTABLE. RPTR STATED NO RTE DISCONTINUITY OR OTHER OBVIOUS CHANGE OCCURRED WHEN DOING SO. RPTR EMPHASIZED THAT THE FLT CREW HAD CONSCIENTIOUSLY REVIEWED THE RTE; INCLUDING THE TRANSITION WAYPOINTS; PRIOR TO DEP.
