Narrative:
The station was using the aft entry door. I don't know the reason. They had used the front entry door earlier in the month. We had asked for a hundred pounds of additional fuel to prevent dropping below minimum because of APU burn. The passenger agent surprised us by closing the door. We (flight deck crew) immediately had the door opened again. While this was happening; we were dealing with a passenger request to carry pepper spray. Through the passenger agent; the passenger proposed having the flight deck crew keep it in the cockpit. He also proposed (through the passenger agent) placing it in checked baggage (claiming that he had done so in a metal container on his previous flight). I rejected the pepper spray anywhere on the airplane. Stress to passenger agent that 2 persons must agree before closing the door: the captain; and the lead flight attendant. Also; station personnel need to know that pepper spray is not permitted on the airplane.

Title: B737-700 FLT CREW DISCOVERS ACFT DOORS CLOSED DURING FUELING; MEANWHILE THE CARRIAGE OF PEPPER SPRAY BY PAX WAS DISPUTED.
Narrative: THE STATION WAS USING THE AFT ENTRY DOOR. I DON'T KNOW THE REASON. THEY HAD USED THE FRONT ENTRY DOOR EARLIER IN THE MONTH. WE HAD ASKED FOR A HUNDRED LBS OF ADDITIONAL FUEL TO PREVENT DROPPING BELOW MINIMUM BECAUSE OF APU BURN. THE PAX AGENT SURPRISED US BY CLOSING THE DOOR. WE (FLT DECK CREW) IMMEDIATELY HAD THE DOOR OPENED AGAIN. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING; WE WERE DEALING WITH A PAX REQUEST TO CARRY PEPPER SPRAY. THROUGH THE PAX AGENT; THE PAX PROPOSED HAVING THE FLT DECK CREW KEEP IT IN THE COCKPIT. HE ALSO PROPOSED (THROUGH THE PAX AGENT) PLACING IT IN CHKED BAGGAGE (CLAIMING THAT HE HAD DONE SO IN A METAL CONTAINER ON HIS PREVIOUS FLT). I REJECTED THE PEPPER SPRAY ANYWHERE ON THE AIRPLANE. STRESS TO PAX AGENT THAT 2 PERSONS MUST AGREE BEFORE CLOSING THE DOOR: THE CAPT; AND THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT. ALSO; STATION PERSONNEL NEED TO KNOW THAT PEPPER SPRAY IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE AIRPLANE.
