Narrative:

Incorrect part number ground proximity computer installed. As the installing and signing technician; it is my responsibility to ensure that the correct parts have been ordered and are being installed on aircraft. My complacency in accepting someone else's word led directly to the installation of the wrong part number ground proximity computer. The installation/self test as required by the applicable maintenance manual gave no indication that the wrong part had been installed. I was also distraction by an inbound WX radar write-up that was a must fix due to the aircraft routing.
