Narrative:

After landing; when checking in with operations to confirm gate; the first officer request that the main gear be chocked; on account of potential hot brakes. Several mins after block-in; I walked downstairs to the ramp; and asked why the aircraft was not chocked yet. I was told it was. Further inspection revealed that the ramp personnel had taken the chocks from the nose gear; and placed each chock behind the 2 main gear. I explained that this was not SOP; and that both the front and the back of the main gears were to be chocked; as well as the nose gear. Obviously; this has the potential to be very dangerous; as there were no chocks to prevent the aircraft from rolling forward.
