Narrative:
Upon preflight in ZZZ; I noticed a problem on the left main landing gear. There are 2 cannon-type plugs on the gear; between the wheels. These plugs house electric wires that I believe operate the brake temperature and anti-skid system. I noticed the right side plug had no safety wire and the plug had come loose. The wires still appeared connected; but the nut portion of the plug had completely come loose. The left side plug still had the nut attached; but it also did not have any safety wire. I entered the discrepancies in the logbook and notified maintenance of the problem. The mechanic came out; fixed the problem and signed off the logbook. I noticed no further problems. I am unfamiliar of the maintenance procedures involved in ensuring that items are properly safety wired. My best suggestion would be a checklist to ensure items are safetied as required.

Title: AN MD80 L MAIN LNDG GEAR HAD THE ANTI-SKID CONNECTORS LOCATED ON THE AFT SIDE OF THE AXLE LOOSE AND DISCONNECTED.
Narrative: UPON PREFLT IN ZZZ; I NOTICED A PROB ON THE L MAIN LNDG GEAR. THERE ARE 2 CANNON-TYPE PLUGS ON THE GEAR; BTWN THE WHEELS. THESE PLUGS HOUSE ELECTRIC WIRES THAT I BELIEVE OPERATE THE BRAKE TEMP AND ANTI-SKID SYS. I NOTICED THE R SIDE PLUG HAD NO SAFETY WIRE AND THE PLUG HAD COME LOOSE. THE WIRES STILL APPEARED CONNECTED; BUT THE NUT PORTION OF THE PLUG HAD COMPLETELY COME LOOSE. THE L SIDE PLUG STILL HAD THE NUT ATTACHED; BUT IT ALSO DID NOT HAVE ANY SAFETY WIRE. I ENTERED THE DISCREPANCIES IN THE LOGBOOK AND NOTIFIED MAINT OF THE PROB. THE MECH CAME OUT; FIXED THE PROB AND SIGNED OFF THE LOGBOOK. I NOTICED NO FURTHER PROBS. I AM UNFAMILIAR OF THE MAINT PROCS INVOLVED IN ENSURING THAT ITEMS ARE PROPERLY SAFETY WIRED. MY BEST SUGGESTION WOULD BE A CHKLIST TO ENSURE ITEMS ARE SAFETIED AS REQUIRED.
