Narrative:
Aircraft was in structures for a 1/2 d-chk and during the check it was scheduled to have an A-1 check performed. Somehow an A-2 check was issued and complied with. I did the final audit on the card without noticing that it was an A-2; not an A-1. The mistake was discovered on jul/mon/06 at about XA00 when records went to update maintenance computer; routine overnight planning notified me of the error and I went to records to verify that it was indeed an A-2. I believe that 1 reason for this mistake was my not physically verifying the paperwork against the master work scope. I took it for granted that planning and production control would issue us the correct paperwork to accomplish our 1/2 d-chk.
