Narrative:

Aircraft with call sign ending in XXX called lhd tower (lake hood tower; a VFR tower located in anc tower) from the north inbound with information (current ATIS). Aircraft was told to report a point. Aircraft reported said point and was cleared to land. I became distraction and did not observe aircraft touchdown. I then scanned the area; many parts of which are not in sight from the tower; and attempted one call to the aircraft. I then informed the controller in charge that I did not see the aircraft land and clear. This is a common occurrence at lhd due to many obstructions from the tower. It happens daily. I believe all aircraft should always give a 'clear' transmission and that ATC should not have to rely on other reports to ensure an aircraft's clearance.

Title: ANC-LHD CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING LIMITED TWR VISIBILITY WITH LHD OPS AND LACK OF PROCS FOR TWR NOTIFICATION OF LNDG; CLR OF RWY.

Narrative: ACFT WITH CALL SIGN ENDING IN XXX CALLED LHD TWR (LAKE HOOD TWR; A VFR TWR LOCATED IN ANC TWR) FROM THE N INBOUND WITH INFO (CURRENT ATIS). ACFT WAS TOLD TO RPT A POINT. ACFT RPTED SAID POINT AND WAS CLRED TO LAND. I BECAME DISTR AND DID NOT OBSERVE ACFT TOUCHDOWN. I THEN SCANNED THE AREA; MANY PARTS OF WHICH ARE NOT IN SIGHT FROM THE TWR; AND ATTEMPTED ONE CALL TO THE ACFT. I THEN INFORMED THE CIC THAT I DID NOT SEE THE ACFT LAND AND CLR. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AT LHD DUE TO MANY OBSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TWR. IT HAPPENS DAILY. I BELIEVE ALL ACFT SHOULD ALWAYS GIVE A 'CLR' XMISSION AND THAT ATC SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RELY ON OTHER RPTS TO ENSURE AN ACFT'S CLRNC.
