Narrative:

While en route from 55J to ahn under VFR conditions; I began to encounter a layer of fog/clouds below my aircraft. As I began to consider my options for a diversion to another airport the layer became worse. I was receiving radar advisories from ATC; so I contacted ATC to advise them of my decision to divert to ays. A further check of the WX indicated that ays was not going to be an option and that the WX was beginning to worsen both ahead and behind me. The scattered clouds at approximately 400 ft had become an overcast cloud layer. At that point I advised ATC that I felt I needed their help in finding an airport with WX that would allow me to land under VFR conditions. I was given an initial heading to ssi. I landed at ssi without incident and continued my flight later after conditions had improved.
