Narrative:
Climbing through FL180; received 'engine overspd' warning for right engine. Complied with QRH and warning cleared. Maintenance advised us to divert. Because of the unknown reliability of #2 engine; and to decrease the chance of a go around; an emergency was declared and an overweight landing accomplished (after consulting with maintenance). No further abnormalities noted.
