Narrative:
On feb/thu/06; 2 mechanics and myself were sent to ZZZZ1 to perform field work on an aircraft. When we arrived; the part was not available. At this time maintenance control ordered us to install the parts that were removed by the previous crew and to perform an engine run-up for troubleshooting purposes. We did so; and the problem persisted. We contacted maintenance control and gave a verbal turnover of the aircraft status. At this time maintenance control told us to return to ZZZZ and that the part that was needed to correct the problem was going to be sent with a maintenance crew that were going to replace us. Since the problem was not corrected by the work that we performed; we did not write a turnover plus we did inform maintenance control. I would like to add that safety wire was used instead of a cotter pin; because we did not have any at the moment and no documentation of this was written; because the pvm was going to be replaced.
