Narrative:
Taking off from bna we were to fly a heading of 045 degrees to intercept the bna 068 degree radial. Both the first officer and myself had the 068 degree radial dialed in and had selected the expanded HSI on our maps. When my HSI indicated that we were on the 068 degree radial; the first officer's HSI indicated a full right deflection. In the momentary confusion; we flew through the 068 degree radial. ATC apparently noticed this and put us on a heading. I then noticed that the first officer had selected the LNAV position on his HSI instead of the VOR position required for this procedure. Supplemental information from acn 706301: I had inadvertently set the control knob on track intercept instead of radial intercept.

Title: B737-300 FLT CREW HAS A TRACK HDG DEV DURING TITAN 1 DEP FROM BNA.
Narrative: TAKING OFF FROM BNA WE WERE TO FLY A HDG OF 045 DEGS TO INTERCEPT THE BNA 068 DEG RADIAL. BOTH THE FO AND MYSELF HAD THE 068 DEG RADIAL DIALED IN AND HAD SELECTED THE EXPANDED HSI ON OUR MAPS. WHEN MY HSI INDICATED THAT WE WERE ON THE 068 DEG RADIAL; THE FO'S HSI INDICATED A FULL R DEFLECTION. IN THE MOMENTARY CONFUSION; WE FLEW THROUGH THE 068 DEG RADIAL. ATC APPARENTLY NOTICED THIS AND PUT US ON A HDG. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE FO HAD SELECTED THE LNAV POS ON HIS HSI INSTEAD OF THE VOR POS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 706301: I HAD INADVERTENTLY SET THE CTL KNOB ON TRACK INTERCEPT INSTEAD OF RADIAL INTERCEPT.
