Narrative:
In exchanging aircraft with inbound crew; captain advised maintenance had been called to service the right engine oil. Not entered in logbook (not a required entry). Oil was svced from 12-21+ pints indicated. Further review of the logbook showed that from aug/wed/06 to sep/fri/06 the left engine had received 29 pints while the right had received 86 pints. Having no flight times to reference for oil consumption/flight hour; and the engine being above minimum dispatch I elected to accept the airplane. My comment/event/question is this: with more than double consumption on the right engine over the left; and no oil service request/confirmation entries required; and missing entries on the bottom of the logbook page for oil added; how is the flight crew to know whether consumption is excessive and is; in fact; receiving all servicing inputs and monitoring same?

Narrative: IN EXCHANGING ACFT WITH INBOUND CREW; CAPT ADVISED MAINT HAD BEEN CALLED TO SVC THE R ENG OIL. NOT ENTERED IN LOGBOOK (NOT A REQUIRED ENTRY). OIL WAS SVCED FROM 12-21+ PINTS INDICATED. FURTHER REVIEW OF THE LOGBOOK SHOWED THAT FROM AUG/WED/06 TO SEP/FRI/06 THE L ENG HAD RECEIVED 29 PINTS WHILE THE R HAD RECEIVED 86 PINTS. HAVING NO FLT TIMES TO REF FOR OIL CONSUMPTION/FLT HR; AND THE ENG BEING ABOVE MINIMUM DISPATCH I ELECTED TO ACCEPT THE AIRPLANE.
