Narrative:
I was advised of a situation by my manager regarding some pylon screws on aircraft. I completed a maintenance service check on this aircraft on aug/xa/06. In thinking back to this night I recall performing a visual inspection of the #1 and #2 upper pylon panels. Visually there were no defects. As extra insurance I then applied my screw driver to the heads of the screws on the leading edge of the upper strut to wing fairing. On the #1 side I was able to get a 1/8-1/4 turn on 2 screws. On #2 side I was able to get a 1/8-1/4 turn on 3 screws. I then continued on to the rest of my task. The maintenance service check has instructions (engines -- step #1 item B) to generate a nrc (non routine card) to install or tighten fasteners. I did not believe at the time that I did either with this minimal movement. While the maintenance service check states that; the service check paperwork states (20; item B) to generate a nrc for loose; pulled or missing fasteners; the maintenance service check per mt 312-00-01 has you checking the same panels (11; item B) but does not have the requirement for the nrc. I find the requirement to do these tasks on separate checks with different paperwork requirements confusing.

Title: A B737-300 TECHNICIAN RPTS CONFUSION ON OVERNIGHT SVC CHK JOB CARDS. NUMBERED CHKS DIFFER WITH REQUIREMENTS FOR NON ROUTINE CARD ENTRY CALLING FOR ADDITIONAL CHKS. (EXAMPLE) #2 CHK CALLS FOR PYLON PANEL SECURITY CHKS.
Narrative: I WAS ADVISED OF A SIT BY MY MGR REGARDING SOME PYLON SCREWS ON ACFT. I COMPLETED A MAINT SVC CHK ON THIS ACFT ON AUG/XA/06. THE MAINT SVC CHK HAS INSTRUCTIONS (ENGS -- STEP #1 ITEM B) TO GENERATE A NRC (NON ROUTINE CARD) TO INSTALL OR TIGHTEN FASTENERS. I DID NOT BELIEVE AT THE TIME THAT I DID EITHER WITH THIS MINIMAL MOVEMENT. WHILE THE MAINT SVC CHK STATES THAT; THE SVC CHK PAPERWORK STATES (20; ITEM B) TO GENERATE A NRC FOR LOOSE; PULLED OR MISSING FASTENERS; THE MAINT SVC CHK PER MT 312-00-01 HAS YOU CHKING THE SAME PANELS (11; ITEM B) BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE REQUIREMENT FOR THE NRC. I FIND THE REQUIREMENT TO DO THESE TASKS ON SEPARATE CHKS WITH DIFFERENT PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS CONFUSING.
