Narrative:

I was relief pilot relieving first officer on break at time of occurrence. I noticed a mild strange smell in the cockpit. I immediately notified the captain and he concurred with my statement. At this time the first officer called from cabin for entry and said smell was also in the cabin. Captain and I ran red box procedure for cabin/fire smoke immediately and the smell quickly dissipated. First officer then took his crew seat. I sat in observer seat and completed this checklist. We also completed the air conditioning smoke checklist.
