Narrative:

We believe the autobrake disarm light illuminated on touchdown in abq with 2 selected. I was the PNF and I was looking for the autobrake disarm light to illuminate when the PF overrode the autobrake system. It had apparently been illuminated the entire landing rollout and neither one of us had noticed it. I adjust the seat fairly high in the -700 and I have to move my head slightly down in order to see the light. We continued to our next destination and I was the PF on this leg. We again armed the autobrake system in 2 for the landing and we both specifically looked for the autobrake disarm light to illuminate on touchdown which it did. When arriving the gate we reported the condition to maintenance and they subsequently found and cleared a fault in the system. My concern is that we are currently only trained to be looking for the autobrake disarm light to illuminate when the system is overridden by the PF and calling 'autobrake disarm.' I believe; we also need to be trained as the PNF to specifically be looking for the autobrake disarm light to illuminate on touchdown and calling 'autobrake fail' if illumination occurs. Depending on runway length and conditions a touch and go may be in order if such a call is made. All failures of the autobrake system need to be reported in order that the company can compile statistics of reliability and determine the causes of failure. Therefore maintenance can take the appropriate steps to keep the system fully functional and reliable.

Title: A B737-700 HAS AN AUTOBRAKE MALFUNCTION ON TOUCHDOWN.

Narrative: WE BELIEVE THE AUTOBRAKE DISARM LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON TOUCHDOWN IN ABQ WITH 2 SELECTED. I WAS THE PNF AND I WAS LOOKING FOR THE AUTOBRAKE DISARM LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PF OVERRODE THE AUTOBRAKE SYS. IT HAD APPARENTLY BEEN ILLUMINATED THE ENTIRE LNDG ROLLOUT AND NEITHER ONE OF US HAD NOTICED IT. I ADJUST THE SEAT FAIRLY HIGH IN THE -700 AND I HAVE TO MOVE MY HEAD SLIGHTLY DOWN IN ORDER TO SEE THE LIGHT. WE CONTINUED TO OUR NEXT DEST AND I WAS THE PF ON THIS LEG. WE AGAIN ARMED THE AUTOBRAKE SYS IN 2 FOR THE LNDG AND WE BOTH SPECIFICALLY LOOKED FOR THE AUTOBRAKE DISARM LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE ON TOUCHDOWN WHICH IT DID. WHEN ARRIVING THE GATE WE RPTED THE CONDITION TO MAINT AND THEY SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND AND CLRED A FAULT IN THE SYS. MY CONCERN IS THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY TRAINED TO BE LOOKING FOR THE AUTOBRAKE DISARM LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE SYS IS OVERRIDDEN BY THE PF AND CALLING 'AUTOBRAKE DISARM.' I BELIEVE; WE ALSO NEED TO BE TRAINED AS THE PNF TO SPECIFICALLY BE LOOKING FOR THE AUTOBRAKE DISARM LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE ON TOUCHDOWN AND CALLING 'AUTOBRAKE FAIL' IF ILLUMINATION OCCURS. DEPENDING ON RWY LENGTH AND CONDITIONS A TOUCH AND GO MAY BE IN ORDER IF SUCH A CALL IS MADE. ALL FAILURES OF THE AUTOBRAKE SYS NEED TO BE RPTED IN ORDER THAT THE COMPANY CAN COMPILE STATISTICS OF RELIABILITY AND DETERMINE THE CAUSES OF FAILURE. THEREFORE MAINT CAN TAKE THE APPROPRIATE STEPS TO KEEP THE SYS FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND RELIABLE.
