Narrative:

I was working the west final (arf) today during the morning inbound. East final (arm) was open as well. At the end of the push I was instructed to combine my sector to the arm sector after my last aircraft was switched to the tower frequency. Local procedures require that I monitor the position for at least 2 mins after I have been relieved by another controller; but there is no requirement to do this when combining one sector to another. I have mentioned this issue to our training manager; but nothing has been changed. I don't understand how the 2 min overlap can be so important in one instance; but not worthy of consideration in another. Mem FAA management refuses to consider our concerns or suggestions.
