Narrative:
On oct/thu/06; was taxiing in to gate after a lengthy ground delay necessitated shutting down the left engine for fuel considerations. During the right turn in to the gate the jet blast from the right engine caused ground equipment to be blown about in a new parking area for regional jet service. This was discovered after I spoke to ramp personnel in the rj parking area on a subsequent commuter flight home. As ramp personnel were not available to park the aircraft it became necessary to stop short of the gate entry; requiring additional power to make the turn. Recommend that 2-ENG taxi into this ramp be mandatory for all large aircraft and that location of new parking areas be shown on the company ramp diagrams. Also recommend that taxi into ramp only be allowed if marshallers available to park aircraft. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the company has changed the ramp diagram to reflect actual conditions; and has changed procedures for parking in this alley.

Title: B767 SINGLE ENG TAXI CAUSES PROBS IN RAMP AREA AT JFK.
Narrative: ON OCT/THU/06; WAS TAXIING IN TO GATE AFTER A LENGTHY GND DELAY NECESSITATED SHUTTING DOWN THE L ENG FOR FUEL CONSIDERATIONS. DURING THE R TURN IN TO THE GATE THE JET BLAST FROM THE R ENG CAUSED GND EQUIP TO BE BLOWN ABOUT IN A NEW PARKING AREA FOR REGIONAL JET SVC. THIS WAS DISCOVERED AFTER I SPOKE TO RAMP PERSONNEL IN THE RJ PARKING AREA ON A SUBSEQUENT COMMUTER FLT HOME. AS RAMP PERSONNEL WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PARK THE ACFT IT BECAME NECESSARY TO STOP SHORT OF THE GATE ENTRY; REQUIRING ADDITIONAL PWR TO MAKE THE TURN. RECOMMEND THAT 2-ENG TAXI INTO THIS RAMP BE MANDATORY FOR ALL LARGE ACFT AND THAT LOCATION OF NEW PARKING AREAS BE SHOWN ON THE COMPANY RAMP DIAGRAMS. ALSO RECOMMEND THAT TAXI INTO RAMP ONLY BE ALLOWED IF MARSHALLERS AVAILABLE TO PARK ACFT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE COMPANY HAS CHANGED THE RAMP DIAGRAM TO REFLECT ACTUAL CONDITIONS; AND HAS CHANGED PROCS FOR PARKING IN THIS ALLEY.
