Narrative:
ZKC ARTCC sector 46 and 48 were combined 23 in aircraft list 16 in departure list possible 39 active aircraft in a 30 mins time span. Supervisor used poor judgement in combining the 2 sectors with the current traffic load. Staffing could be an issue.

Title: ZKC CTLR DESCRIBED INCIDENT WHEN POS WERE COMBINED WITH KNOWN HVY TFC ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE.
Narrative: ZKC ARTCC SECTOR 46 AND 48 WERE COMBINED 23 IN ACFT LIST 16 IN DEP LIST POSSIBLE 39 ACTIVE ACFT IN A 30 MINS TIME SPAN. SUPVR USED POOR JUDGEMENT IN COMBINING THE 2 SECTORS WITH THE CURRENT TFC LOAD. STAFFING COULD BE AN ISSUE.
