Narrative:
While on the teb 5 departure; I started the climb from 1500 ft to 2000 ft before reaching the 4.5 DME as the procedure specifies. Altitude deviation was around 250 ft. By the time I tried to correct it; ATC issued a climb to a higher altitude and told us to review the departure next time. I have been in and out of teb at least 15 times this yr alone; and I thought I knew the procedure very well. I always brief the departure procedure; this time was no exception.
