Narrative:
About 2 hours into the flight I was notified by the purser that the passenger in seat xd was probably intoxicated and his behavior was erratic. I was informed that the passenger had hit a flight attendant on the wrist; but was not led to believe that the situation was critical. A 'passenger in-flight disturbance report' was issued. All air carrier; FAA; and tsa procedures were followed. Later in the flight I was informed of additional misconduct and declared a 'threat level two;' advising dispatch via satcom. The passenger was detained in lszh; but was not arrested because the offended flight attendant did not press charges.
