Narrative:
Aircraft #1 was climbing out after takeoff; was having difficulties communicating with tower. Instructor was troubleshooting while private pilot rated student flew. Student turned left traffic instead of right traffic. After 45 degree heading change to left; instructor rolled wings level and said we were flying wrong traffic. Tried to clarify with tower about direction; but still had communications error. Aircraft #2 observed by instructor on head on collision course. Instructor rolled aircraft into 60 degree turn to evade aircraft #2. After near midair collision; aircraft re-entered right traffic and landed normally. Aircraft #2 also landed uneventfully. Aircraft #1's instructor should have supervised student more closely while handling the communications mishap.

Title: CIRRUS SR20 HAS AN NMAC DURING TKOF FROM BTL.
Narrative: ACFT #1 WAS CLBING OUT AFTER TKOF; WAS HAVING DIFFICULTIES COMMUNICATING WITH TWR. INSTRUCTOR WAS TROUBLESHOOTING WHILE PVT PLT RATED STUDENT FLEW. STUDENT TURNED L TFC INSTEAD OF R TFC. AFTER 45 DEG HDG CHANGE TO L; INSTRUCTOR ROLLED WINGS LEVEL AND SAID WE WERE FLYING WRONG TFC. TRIED TO CLARIFY WITH TWR ABOUT DIRECTION; BUT STILL HAD COMS ERROR. ACFT #2 OBSERVED BY INSTRUCTOR ON HEAD ON COLLISION COURSE. INSTRUCTOR ROLLED ACFT INTO 60 DEG TURN TO EVADE ACFT #2. AFTER NMAC; ACFT RE-ENTERED R TFC AND LANDED NORMALLY. ACFT #2 ALSO LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. ACFT #1'S INSTRUCTOR SHOULD HAVE SUPERVISED STUDENT MORE CLOSELY WHILE HANDLING THE COMS MISHAP.
