Narrative:
Encountered severe turbulence en route ZZZZ-ZZZ. I immediately sat down in passenger seat 36C (B757). Female passenger then fell out of aft r-hand lavatory to the floor. More turbulence; then passenger began to 'deviate' off of the floor. I grabbed her in a bear hug to prevent any injury or air time; more turbulence; resulting in injury to myself while holding onto passenger. Passenger; uninjured; returned to seat assignment; performed safety checks; cleaned up aft galley and proceeded to ZZZ. Situation unavoidable? Possible correction? Brief passenger about possible turbulence while standing in an aisle.
