Narrative:
Landed on runway 36L at dfw. As we cleared runway on high speed turnoff; tower told us to cross runway 36R and taxi yankee bridge and contact ground on 121.65 top of the bridge. ATC did not specify where to cross the runway. All this was read so fast to us that it was difficult to break out individual instructions as it was all streamed together in one very rapid run-on sentence. I read back that we would cross runway 36R at taxiway Y. We taxied up taxiway east and was told to contact tower again. We did this and were told by controller that we had messed up; etc. I told him that I read back the above instructions and that he did not challenge us on it. This is the same controller that I have noticed seems to be an extremely fast talker and really runs his instructions together whenever I hear him working.
