Narrative:
At FL330; 60 mi northeast of ZZZ; noticed a master caution light and a 'left oil strainer clogging' light. Captain called for the associated checklist. We followed the procedure and reduced thrust on the l-hand engine; with no subsequent change in the indication. Oil readings were 80 degrees C; 47 psi; and 16 quarts; all within normal; stabilized limits. After conferring with maintenance/dispatch we agreed the engine was stable enough to operate at reduced thrust setting. Given the possible implications of this indication; we elected to divert and declare an emergency. We decided ZZZ was the nearest and most suitable. The captain coordinated with ATC and informed the cabin crew; while I continued with dispatch for a few mins. Looking back; that time would have been better served helping the captain brief the flight attendants and passenger. We had declared an emergency; so we didn't need a re-release. The rest of the approach and landing went smoothly; utilizing reduced power on the l-hand engine. We did land 300 pounds over gross landing weight.

Title: FLT CREW OF UNIDENTED TWIN ENG ACR ACFT EXPERIENCE L ENG OIL STRAINER CLOGGING ALERT. DECLARE EMER AND RETURN TO DEP ARPT. MODESTLY OVERWT ON LNDG.
Narrative: AT FL330; 60 MI NE OF ZZZ; NOTICED A MASTER CAUTION LIGHT AND A 'L OIL STRAINER CLOGGING' LIGHT. CAPT CALLED FOR THE ASSOCIATED CHKLIST. WE FOLLOWED THE PROC AND REDUCED THRUST ON THE L-HAND ENG; WITH NO SUBSEQUENT CHANGE IN THE INDICATION. OIL READINGS WERE 80 DEGS C; 47 PSI; AND 16 QUARTS; ALL WITHIN NORMAL; STABILIZED LIMITS. AFTER CONFERRING WITH MAINT/DISPATCH WE AGREED THE ENG WAS STABLE ENOUGH TO OPERATE AT REDUCED THRUST SETTING. GIVEN THE POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS INDICATION; WE ELECTED TO DIVERT AND DECLARE AN EMER. WE DECIDED ZZZ WAS THE NEAREST AND MOST SUITABLE. THE CAPT COORDINATED WITH ATC AND INFORMED THE CABIN CREW; WHILE I CONTINUED WITH DISPATCH FOR A FEW MINS. LOOKING BACK; THAT TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SERVED HELPING THE CAPT BRIEF THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX. WE HAD DECLARED AN EMER; SO WE DIDN'T NEED A RE-RELEASE. THE REST OF THE APCH AND LNDG WENT SMOOTHLY; UTILIZING REDUCED PWR ON THE L-HAND ENG. WE DID LAND 300 LBS OVER GROSS LNDG WT.
