Narrative:

We arrived at dfw at the same time as a strong cold front. We were cleared for a visual approach about 12 mi out. We had a 45+ KT tailwind till below 1000 ft. Surface wind was reported 300 degrees at 9 KTS. At 3000 ft we hit moderate turbulence and about 1000 ft had a windshear warning. I went missed approach and at runway end turned to follow the ILS runway 31R missed approach procedure. The climb took us back into the tailwind. The very alert controller gave us a 330 degree heading and climb to 3000 ft. Our flight path took us about 5 mi behind a runway 35C departure. We were vectored around the west side of dfw to a landing on runway 36L. The controller asked for the reason for our missed approach and we informed him. No other comments were made.
