Narrative:
On the evening of dec/sat/06; I was assigned to be the lead on aircraft XXX which was OTS for a tank dive. At XA30 my start time I received a turn over that (supplier) was on the aircraft with parts on hand. The part had been idented; ordered and delivered on a previous shift. They were purging the tanks before entering. I also was assigned to lead aircraft XXX gear extend/retract operations check. The tank diver finished installing the part around XE30. Leak checks were completed at XB30. I reviewed the contract maintenance paperwork and the attached form. They were all complete. I then proceeded to sign off the installed part number. Thinking that gmm xx-xx-xx would relieve me of any wrongdoing of the work being performed by (supplier). I then entered the installed part number in the maintenance computer after which I received a forced parts screen. I entered the required information on that and the page was accepted. I never physically checked the ipc because I was under the impression that according to bulletin; if there was an issue with the interchangeability of the parts maintenance computer would require me to provide an ipc reference.

Narrative: ON THE EVENING OF DEC/SAT/06; I WAS ASSIGNED TO BE THE LEAD ON ACFT XXX WHICH WAS OTS FOR A TANK DIVE. AT XA30 MY START TIME I RECEIVED A TURN OVER THAT (SUPPLIER) WAS ON THE ACFT WITH PARTS ON HAND. THE PART HAD BEEN IDENTED; ORDERED AND DELIVERED ON A PREVIOUS SHIFT. THEY WERE PURGING THE TANKS BEFORE ENTERING. I ALSO WAS ASSIGNED TO LEAD ACFT XXX GEAR EXTEND/RETRACT OPS CHK. THE TANK DIVER FINISHED INSTALLING THE PART AROUND XE30. LEAK CHKS WERE COMPLETED AT XB30. I REVIEWED THE CONTRACT MAINT PAPERWORK AND THE ATTACHED FORM. THEY WERE ALL COMPLETE. I THEN PROCEEDED TO SIGN OFF THE INSTALLED PART NUMBER. THINKING THAT GMM XX-XX-XX WOULD RELIEVE ME OF ANY WRONGDOING OF THE WORK BEING PERFORMED BY (SUPPLIER). I THEN ENTERED THE INSTALLED PART NUMBER IN THE MAINT COMPUTER AFTER WHICH I RECEIVED A FORCED PARTS SCREEN. I ENTERED THE REQUIRED INFO ON THAT AND THE PAGE WAS ACCEPTED. I NEVER PHYSICALLY CHKED THE IPC BECAUSE I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ACCORDING TO BULLETIN; IF THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE INTERCHANGEABILITY OF THE PARTS MAINT COMPUTER WOULD REQUIRE ME TO PROVIDE AN IPC REF.
