Narrative:
During the final approach phase; anchorage control issued a traffic alert at the 3 O'clock position location. We had previously been cleared for the ILS runway 7R and had intercepted the localizer but was below the GS. To avoid traffic; zan had told the flight it was cleared for the visual passing 2000 ft MSL. The navajo had been cleared for the approach to runway 7L by anchorage; thus having to cross our flight path at some point. As the navajo neared; we received a TCAS alert while the traffic had been called in sight. At GS intercept; zan notified us to contact TRACON upon arrival; a most inopportune moment while making final configns and running landing checklists. The flight landed without event and ATC advised the aircraft to contact TRACON at the next opportunity. It seems as if the onus had been placed upon the flight crew for bad vectoring/sequencing by anchorage approach. To keep this from happening again; aircraft should not be given crossing tracks while on the final approach course.

Title: MD11F FLT CREW HAS A TCAS ALERT DURING APCH TO ANC.
Narrative: DURING THE FINAL APCH PHASE; ANCHORAGE CTL ISSUED A TFC ALERT AT THE 3 O'CLOCK POS LOCATION. WE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 7R AND HAD INTERCEPTED THE LOC BUT WAS BELOW THE GS. TO AVOID TFC; ZAN HAD TOLD THE FLT IT WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL PASSING 2000 FT MSL. THE NAVAJO HAD BEEN CLRED FOR THE APCH TO RWY 7L BY ANCHORAGE; THUS HAVING TO CROSS OUR FLT PATH AT SOME POINT. AS THE NAVAJO NEARED; WE RECEIVED A TCAS ALERT WHILE THE TFC HAD BEEN CALLED IN SIGHT. AT GS INTERCEPT; ZAN NOTIFIED US TO CONTACT TRACON UPON ARR; A MOST INOPPORTUNE MOMENT WHILE MAKING FINAL CONFIGNS AND RUNNING LNDG CHKLISTS. THE FLT LANDED WITHOUT EVENT AND ATC ADVISED THE ACFT TO CONTACT TRACON AT THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY. IT SEEMS AS IF THE ONUS HAD BEEN PLACED UPON THE FLT CREW FOR BAD VECTORING/SEQUENCING BY ANCHORAGE APCH. TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN; ACFT SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN XING TRACKS WHILE ON THE FINAL APCH COURSE.
