Narrative:
This event occurred because the oven was broken and the flight attendant did not inform the captain because of the cpr culture to get the job done at all costs. It was too much work to write it up at an outstation. While accepting the airplane from the crew that brought it in; I overheard the other flight attendant telling my flight attendant that the oven was broken and would not turn off. It burned the cookies and smelled like smoke. She informed my flight attendant to not use the oven. She was then going to leave. She did not inform her captain. The outgoing flight attendant told my flight attendant. I asked the outgoing captain to write it up. He complied and then it was put on MEL. I am extremely concerned at this ongoing behavior from crew members and that the company supports the behavior of getting the job done at all costs. This will eventually kill a passenger or a crew member. What would have happened if it had caught fire?

Title: DC328 CAPT LEARNS DURING CREW CHANGE OF OVEN DISCREPANCY THAT IS NOT IN THE LOGBOOK.
Narrative: THIS EVENT OCCURRED BECAUSE THE OVEN WAS BROKEN AND THE FLT ATTENDANT DID NOT INFORM THE CAPT BECAUSE OF THE CPR CULTURE TO GET THE JOB DONE AT ALL COSTS. IT WAS TOO MUCH WORK TO WRITE IT UP AT AN OUTSTATION. WHILE ACCEPTING THE AIRPLANE FROM THE CREW THAT BROUGHT IT IN; I OVERHEARD THE OTHER FLT ATTENDANT TELLING MY FLT ATTENDANT THAT THE OVEN WAS BROKEN AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IT BURNED THE COOKIES AND SMELLED LIKE SMOKE. SHE INFORMED MY FLT ATTENDANT TO NOT USE THE OVEN. SHE WAS THEN GOING TO LEAVE. SHE DID NOT INFORM HER CAPT. THE OUTGOING FLT ATTENDANT TOLD MY FLT ATTENDANT. I ASKED THE OUTGOING CAPT TO WRITE IT UP. HE COMPLIED AND THEN IT WAS PUT ON MEL. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AT THIS ONGOING BEHAVIOR FROM CREW MEMBERS AND THAT THE COMPANY SUPPORTS THE BEHAVIOR OF GETTING THE JOB DONE AT ALL COSTS. THIS WILL EVENTUALLY KILL A PAX OR A CREW MEMBER. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD CAUGHT FIRE?
