Smelled fumes; acrid smell at beginning of descent. Confirmed same was occurring in cabin. Pointed the aircraft for ZZZ. Declared emergency with center and approach. Accomplished QRH procedures. Flew an expeditious approach to landing opposite direction; runway 19R. Configured a little late but well within safe parameters for an on speed touchdown.

Narrative: SMELLED FUMES; ACRID SMELL AT BEGINNING OF DSCNT. CONFIRMED SAME WAS OCCURRING IN CABIN. POINTED THE ACFT FOR ZZZ. DECLARED EMER WITH CTR AND APCH. ACCOMPLISHED QRH PROCS. FLEW AN EXPEDITIOUS APCH TO LNDG OPPOSITE DIRECTION; RWY 19R. CONFIGURED A LITTLE LATE BUT WELL WITHIN SAFE PARAMETERS FOR AN ON SPD TOUCHDOWN.
