Narrative:
At approximately FL290 we experienced a stick shaker; autoplt disconnect while climbing to FL330. I assumed control of the aircraft for the recovery. We recovered to a normal climb profile. Loss of altitude was minimal. ATC was not notified nor were we queried by ATC. On first glance at the airspeed indicator; I noticed that the indicated airspeed was higher than I had anticipated. (Below minimum safe speed and the green line; but approximately 20 KTS above stall indication; 'barber pole.') the factors contributing to this occurrence include: attention of the crew being distraction. ATC issuing a clearance of 'direct to ranger.' being unfamiliar; our attention was fixated on navigation. By discussion concerning airline; company; union issues. By my lack of sleep due to a recent aggravated personal injury.
