Narrative:
I took off of runway 24 at teb on the teb 5 departure and as required by the departure procedure I was to climb runway heading until 1500 ft MSL; then turn right heading 280 degrees; maintain 1500 ft MSL until passing the 250 radial from teb and 4.5 DME off the teb VOR then climb and maintain 2000 ft MSL. Unfortunately I lost spatial orientation and continued the climb towards 2000 ft MSL until I realized as I approached 1900 ft MSL that I did not stop my climb at 1500 ft MSL. As I began reducing my altitude ny departure requested our altitude and we informed them that we were correcting back to 1500 ft MSL. In the future I will engage the autopilot sooner especially when there are crossing restrs on the departure procedure that are at the lower altitudes.

Title: GL20 BREAKS ALT RESTR ON TEB SID.
Narrative: I TOOK OFF OF RWY 24 AT TEB ON THE TEB 5 DEP AND AS REQUIRED BY THE DEP PROC I WAS TO CLB RWY HEADING UNTIL 1500 FT MSL; THEN TURN R HEADING 280 DEGS; MAINTAIN 1500 FT MSL UNTIL PASSING THE 250 RADIAL FROM TEB AND 4.5 DME OFF THE TEB VOR THEN CLIMB AND MAINTAIN 2000 FT MSL. UNFORTUNATELY I LOST SPATIAL ORIENTATION AND CONTINUED THE CLIMB TOWARDS 2000 FT MSL UNTIL I REALIZED AS I APCHED 1900 FT MSL THAT I DID NOT STOP MY CLB AT 1500 FT MSL. AS I BEGAN REDUCING MY ALTITUDE NY DEP REQUESTED OUR ALTITUDE AND WE INFORMED THEM THAT WE WERE CORRECTING BACK TO 1500 FT MSL. IN THE FUTURE I WILL ENGAGE THE AUTOPILOT SOONER ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE CROSSING RESTRS ON THE DEP PROC THAT ARE AT THE LOWER ALTITUDES.
