Narrative:
Flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ. It was my leg and on approach to ZZZ we got a flap fail caution. Captain instructed me to take the radios and ask for delay vectors and declare an emergency while he ran the QRH. We completed all tasks and were re-vectored for ZZZ ILS runway 27; landing without incident. I have asked around and found that flap failures in the crj are common in the winter. Because of the increased tendency to balloon in the flare during situations like this; I would suggest more emphasis be placed on 0 flaps lndgs in the simulator to enhance safety.
