Narrative:
I got called for field trip air carrier X engine starter changes! I did assume the parts that my lead gave me is the right one; which is borrowed parts; the engine starter. That sent by aog desk. I didn't get to check the parts 'cause it came from aog desk for air carrier X; and my lead told me he checked parts!

Title: MECH RPTS INSTALLING INCORRECT STARTER ON MD80 ACFT AFTER LEAD STATED THE PART WAS THE CORRECT ONE.
Narrative: I GOT CALLED FOR FIELD TRIP ACR X ENG STARTER CHANGES! I DID ASSUME THE PARTS THAT MY LEAD GAVE ME IS THE RIGHT ONE; WHICH IS BORROWED PARTS; THE ENG STARTER. THAT SENT BY AOG DESK. I DIDN'T GET TO CHK THE PARTS 'CAUSE IT CAME FROM AOG DESK FOR ACR X; AND MY LEAD TOLD ME HE CHKED PARTS!
