Narrative:
While on the ramp at mmpr we got a 'avionics smoke' ECAM. I checked outside and didn't see or smell anything around the nose of the aircraft or coming from the avionics bay exhaust. After about 5 minutes; the ECAM went away by itself. I called maintenance and told them what happened. They told me to write an information only entry in the log book. Departed mmpr. Approximately 15 minutes into flight we got a 'avionics smoke' ECAM. We did not smell or see any smoke. All the radios and equipment operated normally. We conferred with maintenance control and because the ECAM did not go away we returned to mmpr. During the approach to mmpr the 'avionics smoke' ECAM went away on its own. We did a go around with the flaps and gear down to burn off a little fuel and get closer to landing weight. Landing was normal 145500 pounds at 200 FPM at touchdown. Maintenance at mmpr later found defective ventilation blower fan.
