Narrative:
Ft lauderdale hollywood airport has one runway (9L) that normally operates as the sole runway for large aircraft and can often get congested. During one of these times; we were asked by miami approach if we could accept runway 9R for landing. After looking at the runway distance and performance data; we determined that we could land on this runway based on this information. We were cleared for a visual approach and then cleared to land by the tower on runway 9R. We landed uneventfully and switched to ground. The ground controller was surprised that we had landed on runway 9R; but cleared us to taxi without anything further. It was the surprise of the ground controller that later led me to further research this. I discovered a note on the back of the approach plate that added that this runway is closed to aircraft with a wingspan of more than 78 ft or an approach speed of more than 120 knots. Though our wingspan is less than 78 ft; our approach speed as I recall was 131 knots; thus making us ineligible for a landing on that runway.

Title: AN EMB145 CREW LANDED ON FLL RWY 9R DURING A CONGESTED TFC PERIOD WITH SHORT NOTICE OF RWY CHANGE. THE 120 KT RESTRICTION PROHIBITS THAT ACFT TYPE FROM THAT RWY.
Narrative: FT LAUDERDALE HOLLYWOOD AIRPORT HAS ONE RWY (9L) THAT NORMALLY OPERATES AS THE SOLE RUNWAY FOR LARGE AIRCRAFT AND CAN OFTEN GET CONGESTED. DURING ONE OF THESE TIMES; WE WERE ASKED BY MIAMI APPROACH IF WE COULD ACCEPT RWY 9R FOR LANDING. AFTER LOOKING AT THE RUNWAY DISTANCE AND PERFORMANCE DATA; WE DETERMINED THAT WE COULD LAND ON THIS RWY BASED ON THIS INFORMATION. WE WERE CLEARED FOR A VISUAL APPROACH AND THEN CLEARED TO LAND BY THE TOWER ON RWY 9R. WE LANDED UNEVENTFULLY AND SWITCHED TO GROUND. THE GROUND CONTROLLER WAS SURPRISED THAT WE HAD LANDED ON RWY 9R; BUT CLEARED US TO TAXI WITHOUT ANYTHING FURTHER. IT WAS THE SURPRISE OF THE GROUND CONTROLLER THAT LATER LED ME TO FURTHER RESEARCH THIS. I DISCOVERED A NOTE ON THE BACK OF THE APPROACH PLATE THAT ADDED THAT THIS RWY IS CLOSED TO AIRCRAFT WITH A WINGSPAN OF MORE THAN 78 FT OR AN APPROACH SPEED OF MORE THAN 120 KNOTS. THOUGH OUR WINGSPAN IS LESS THAN 78 FT; OUR APPROACH SPEED AS I RECALL WAS 131 KNOTS; THUS MAKING US INELIGIBLE FOR A LANDING ON THAT RWY.
