Narrative:

During final approach to runway 31 we noticed an airplane doing low altitude aerobatics very near the approach end of the active runway. I had been briefed on the NOTAM which supposedly authority/authorized this activity. This seems to me -- and every other pilot I've talked to about this -- to be a very poor place for someone to be practicing aerobatics while other aircraft are landing. At the time we were dealing with a significant crosswind in addition to the visual distraction. To top if off we started getting TCAS fly up commands while on short final. There has to be a better place to practice aeronautical! This is very unsafe. My boss and flying partner and I have both been flying for many years and he agrees that this is not safe and is one of the more stupid NOTAMS ever authorized. We were one of many corporate jets flying in and out of sgj that day.
